When I originally saw the denim vest popping up at retailers earlier in the spring, I wasn't sure what to make of them. I felt that maybe the world wasn't ready to re-live those Clarissa Explains It All years. However, like many trends, this one started to grown on me, and now I have one at the top of my shopping list. I feel like this is a great transition piece for late summer and into early fall. As of now, I have really fallen in love with the denim vest styled in an ultra-feminine way:
Here is my feminine formula for styling the denim vest:
1. Pick a denim vest that is nice and structured.
2. Pair it with a flirty dress.
3. Add some sexy heels or glammed-up flats.
4. Drape on some classic accessories.
5. Finish the feminine vibe with a swipe of your favorite lipstick, a spritz of your fave perfume, and you are good to go!
Below are three examples I have created for more inspiration on how to wear the trend:

How do you feel about the denim vest trend? Did you snatch one up when they hit stores? Were you a bit more reserved like me? Or are you just flat out against them? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

These are all really cute ... but I think I'll stick to my denim jacket :) Definitely going to pair it with a white dress pronto, though!
ReplyDeleteHa! That is perfect Anne, you go ahead and just stick with your denim jacket. ;) Thanks for the input. I don't own a denim jacket because they never fit me right- I have broad shoulders but short skinny arms and they just make me look all out of proportion somehow. Boo. I thought maybe eliminating the sleeves would help solve the problem while still getting the denim jacket look? Perhaps?
DeleteI would like a denim vest, it the price is right :)
ReplyDeleteI agree on the price-Old Navy has a nice version that isn't too bad. I also have been wanting to check out the thrift stores to see if I can find one. Or maybe a denim jacket to cut the sleeves off? Only thing is I don't want the edges to fray.
DeleteI love it--it's one of those things I keep hoping to find at a thrift store but haven't had any luck! I think it's such a cute way to layer, even in the summer. I love these looks!
ReplyDeleteMe too! It's been on my to-do to hit up a thrift store to look for one.
DeleteI love allllll of these looks! I need a denim vest in my closet :) Going on August's must haves :) I think a denim vest could transition well into a fall wardrobe as well :)

ReplyDeleteA denim vest is a timeless addition your closet. I just took the sleeves off of one I've had forever.
ReplyDeleteI will forever regret passing on a denim vest at Goodwill last year. Went back the next day for it and it was gone :(. Love all these suggestions!
