Obsessing Over: Hermes Box Orange

In further researching which shade of orange to paint my cedar chest by looking over my Interior Infatuations, I realized I have a definite favorite shade. I wasn't quite sure how to describe it: pumpkin? parika? spicy? burnt orange? Then I realized in several photos were those iconic Hermes boxes that are the exact color I'm talking about. For me it really is the perfect shade of orange. Unfortunately, I don't have a box to color match at Home Depot (any rich peeps out there have one to spare?) so I will have to try and find a similar option. Hold onto your hats folks, I'm about to take you on a wild orange ride:

  2. Oh I am absolutely ga-ga over orange. Everything I own is pretty much orange or brown. I am re-doing my room and I am trying to convince my mother to let me paint my accent wall a pretty burnt orange but she wants to sell the house soon so I need to keep it neutral. GRRRR. So, I think I will just have to live vicariously through your orange chest once it is all done! Thanks for the inspiration pics!

  3. you nailed it! Hermes orange is PERFECT! Check ebay... maybe someone is selling just a box, you never know?!

These pictures are amazing by the way... can't say which I like the best, for sure some will end up on my Tumblr!

  4. This color is great...especially paired with greens, blues, and teals. I was recently in San Francisco and learned about "international orange" because that is what color the golden gate bridge is painted. I looked it up on wikipedia and it turns out there is a whole logic behind it!

  6. I went through a HUGE orange kick 2 years ago. Orange shoes, orange purse (not worn together), orange pillows. I love the how vibrant yet refreshing the color is. I'm thinking about integrating orange into my son's room (when he actually gets is own room after our next move).

    Love these inspirations

  7. Meg-Thank you for the link! I never knew that about the GG Bridge!

Nicole-I feel your pain, my mom never let me paint my walls either. You can at least bring in some orange accents like in these photos until you get your own place and can go hog wild with color!

  8. I think my color this year is teal. For some reason I'm so drawn to it. I love neutral rooms with subtle flashes of bold colors. The orange is great for that! We just painted our bathroom walls pumpkin.

  10. How fabulous are those bunk beds? I have recently fallen head over heels for this same shade (and have painted it into about 3 different rooms!). I can't get enough of it!

Missed reading your blog while I was gone... so glad to be able to catch up today!

  12. That is so funny that you wrote about this because I was recently at the jewelry store trying to order a new leather band for my watch...I wanted "Hermes Orange" the lady looked at me a little funny. But, it's spot on the perfect shade of orange! If I come across a box I will let you know :)

  13. That first bedroom of the lot is so wonderful... I don't think I could put it together like that, but I just love it!

You've found a great shade! Go to Sherwin Williams (do you have one of those nearby) and get a $5 sample of your color. It might even be enough to cover the whole thing, but if not, definitely plenty to test it. Tonya (Kotori) shared that little nugget with me. I got a bright green and painted some frames with it.

  15. As the world now knows, I'm notoriously bad at picking out paint colors. I love that orange you've picked out! It will be great on some furniture--very eye-catching.
