Fall Closet 2014 : 13 Perfect Fall Pieces to Mix and Match

Okay everyone, it's here! My fall capsule wardrobe for 2014. I really hadn't been in the mindset because it has still been pretty warm here, but October is almost over so I needed to get on with the show! Originally I planned on doing mostly black, white and gray, but that got boring quick. Everyone needs a little color in their lives. Falling in love with this blue buffalo plaid top definitely helped.

This year I have picked 13 main clothing pieces for the capsule, and have made an extra category for accessories, jackets and shoes, which I will blog tomorrow.

Below are my top 13 picks for pieces to add to your fall wardrobe. Later this week I will be rolling out all the different outfits I made from these pieces. Enjoy!

PS- Check out all my previous capsule wardrobes right here!

Tops:

Flannel shirt in brilliant sea check • J.Crew • $89.50
You can read all about my blue buffalo plaid experience here, along with more options. I found a more affordable optional at Kohl's, which is currently sold out online, but check your local store! One of my local stores was chock full of them.

Ultrasoft Turtleneck Sweater - Mossimo • Target • $22.99
A simple, sleek black turtleneck to layer is one of my must-haves.

Mossimo Supply Co. Long Sleeve Button Down Shirt • Mossimo • $24.99
A gal can never have too many fall flannels, and I love the elbow patches on this one! More colorways available as well.

Piperlime Collection Mix Print Blouse • Piperlime • $98.00
A pretty blouse for fall will soften any look, and is also great for layering. The pretty florals and painterly plaid paired together (say that 5 times fast) on this blouse is just lovely. I am definitely looking out for a sale on this before I buy though! Pretty pricey.

Sweaters:

Tracklist Side-Zip Pullover • Madewell • $69.99
A side-zip sweater was another wish-list item I blogged about here. I actually bought and then returned the Gap version listed in that post. It was really boxy and unflattering. I think I will go the sweater route instead of the sweatshirt route. This olive option from Madewell is a nice addition of color to the closet.

Piperlime Collection Leoprint Print Cardigan • Piperlime • $89.00
Don't miss my other selections from my fuzzy sweater postI think this leopard cardigan makes a great outer layer.

Piperlime Collection Drapey Sweater Jacket • Piperlime • $98.00
I like this cross between a sweater and a jacket. The perfect piece to grab and throw on over anything on a chilly morning.

Turtleneck sweater tunic • Gap • $51.99
A long, chunky, gray turtleneck is also high on my fall wishlist. So cozy!

Vest:

Excursion quilted vest • J.Crew • $120.00
I know everyone and their mom has these, but they really are a great piece to throw on for extra warmth. Out of all the quilted vests I have tried on, the Jcrew versions are the most flattering. They are cut well and aren't too puffy. Check the outlet for better prices.

Bottoms:

Grey Jeans Legging - Mossimo® • Target • $27.99
A must have for the gray monochromatic looks that are hot for fall!

Knit Leggings • Madewell • $34.50
I purchased a pair of these this year, and they are a great quality for the price. Nice and thick, holds you in up top, and doesn't slouch by the end of the day.

Toothpick jean in destructed miller wash • J.Crew • $130.00
A slightly distressed pair of denim will give you that worn look without the cold from actual holes! I get cold so easily, so I have to completely stop wearing my distressed boyfriends in the fall/winter. (Hello icy drafts! Yikes!)

Dress:

Women's 3/4 Sleeve Flannel Dress - Cherokee • Target • $29.99
A flannel shirt dress? Yeas please! Love this black and white version, but the red plaid version is also a winner.
