I'm back from vacation and can I just say...brrrrr! December started with a serious cold-snap all over California, and I didn't escape it in Big Sur. Luckily our cabin had a wood burning stove that kept us nice and toasty every night. Back at home on Saturday we turned our heater on for the first time this season, which usually coincides with busting out the winter coats. The girls have somehow managed to grow one hundred sizes since last year, so I will be picking them up something new. As for me, I picked up a lovely moto-inspired peacoat at H&M for a steal over the Black Friday weekend. If you are in the market for a new coat this year, or are just looking to add an updated style to your closet, here are my recommendations:
This is the jacket I picked up on sale at H&M. The picture doesn't quite do it justice; it is a gorgeous deep navy and is cut perfectly. Looks like a much more expensive jacket than it reallly is.
I have been eyeing this jacket for a few months. I love the subtle leopard pattern and it has gotten great reviews online! A great deal right now, on sale for $45, with an extra 25% with code "Holiday".
I'm all about the side zippers and anything in a textured fabric. This coat will go with practically anything in your closet!
Shawl collars are the ultimate in cozy warm comfort! And of course-PLAID.
Sometimes only pulling on a good puffer and running out the door will do. This has a high collar and hood-perfect for frigid early morning school drop-offs when you didn't bother to do your hair or makeup. Just saying. Also comes in khaki green and dark blue.
I'm not sure why they call this a trench, as it doesn't look much like one to me. At any rate, I like the detailing on this one-comes in black too.
Colorful wool coats are super trendy right now, with pastels at the top of the list. I haven't been too into pastels lately, but this mint one sure is pretty. I think it would look great paired with winter white and silver accessories.
Another side zip stunner. Love the big shawl collar with faux shearling. This is the gray version, and it also comes in black.
