My Drugstore Winter Beauty Favorites

The official beginning of winter may be tomorrow, but my skin and hair has been heralding it's imminent arrival for weeks now. Gone are my light lotions and cleansers-it's time to bust out the heavy weights! I'm having great success with a few new products I have been trying, and wanted to share them with you today. They are all super affordable-none are even over $15!

Switching to a cleanser that is cream based is the way to go in dry winter months. Every extra bit of moisture counts, even when it is applied then immediately removed. This goes on nice and thick, but also feels super silky and calming to my sensitive skin.

This is a companion product in the same line as the cleansing balm, so I decided to give it a go. It basically goes on the same, except you leave it on for the day! It blends nicely and does not leave your face feeling too greasy. I have noticed a definite change in my skin since using this daily. I no longer have flaky forehead syndrome.

This was sent to me as a sample to review, and has been a great addition to my nightly routine. Obiqo is a skin-care line from New Zealand that combines nutrient-rich sea kelp with the powerful anti-oxidant properties of French organic sea lavender. Evening primrose and borage oils help smooth and soften the skin. I love this stuff! It has a delicate scent that leaves you feeling fresh and soothed, perfect for bedtime. It goes on nice and creamy, and in the morning when I wake up I can still feel the moisture on my skin. It really is a luxurious product at an amazing price!

I actually bought this awhile ago, have used it throughout the summer and do not feel the need to change it up for winter. Again, this wash is nice and creamy (you seeing a theme here?), smells great and I'm pretty much down for anything that says "age defying" at this point. You can't go wrong for the price either-around $6!

Another simple switch I make in winter is from a regular lotion to a body butter. I'm currently enjoying this sample sent from Obiqo, which has many of the same properties as the night cream. An addition to this is a sweet almond oil, which you really need to get a whiff of in person because it is so lovely. It's a real treat when I dig into this after a shower!

I really love this because it is the first sugar type scrub for your lips that isn't super messy! It comes in a nice lipstick form, that you just swipe on and rinse off. For the most part I don't even find the need to rinse it off though. The scent on this reminds me of espresso-delish! The exfoliating action helps get rid of pesky dry skin flakes, while the moisturizing element keeps it from being too harsh on your lips. $3 my friends! Get one or two or three (purse! car! gym bag!) and you won't be sorry.

I keep this on my night stand and put it on right before bed. With a coenzyme Q-10 formula that helps reduce visible signs of aging-because get ready girls your lips age too! In the winter my lips need all the deep renewal they can get.

I've been using this for a week and want to shout from the rooftops how much I love it. But I think I'll just do it here on the blog instead. I LOVE THIS SHAMPOO!! I have the dryest hair you will probably ever run across; I'm talking brittle ends that look like straw in the winter. I cannot believe how silky and shiny this shampoo makes my hair. It's like a Christmas miracle. It smells amazing, lathers up nice (shoddy lather is a deal breaker for me), and creates amazing results. No parabens, phthalates, dyes or sulfates. Get. this. now.

How is that for a name, huh? I use this instead of the regular conditioner and the results are amazing. I love the formula, it comes out thick and is a mint green with these pretty little aqua blue beads that pop and release who knows what, but it works! You can leave it on a few minutes or up to ten. I only do about three and wash it out. Again: Get. this. now.

Ok, so that is all I have for you for now. I'd love to hear some of your favorite winter beauty products, as I love to try new things. I know you must have some tricks up your sleeve! Let me know in the comments so I can check them out!
