Holiday Gift Guide: For the Home!

Gifts for the home are always fun and I think the easiest to give. You might not always nail a person's style in say clothes or jewelry- but fun gifts that can be used around the house are hard to mess up. I like to buy a few items that go together to create a more personalized gift.

1. Loose tea set and Mr. Tea
I picked up this little guy named Mr. Tea today at TJMaxx as a gift and I think he is the cutest! You take off his little gray pants, put loose tea inside, and them slip him on the corner of your mug of hot water to steep. It looks like he is taking a nice relaxing soak in the spa! Seriously, it cracks me up. This is the perfect gift for the tea lover, because you can make a little set with some fancy loose tea, like this white chocolate peppermint roobios tea, and a fun mug, such as this or this.

Every home needs a nice serving tray (or two or three!) and a pretty set of cheese knives. This is the perfect gift for a new homeowner, or as a hostess gift. There are loads of cheese knife of options out there, from plain to elaborate, bargain to $$$$. This gold set from West Elm is a great set because it is simple but has a little flair.  There are also loads of options when it comes to trays. You don't necessarily need to get one made specifically for cheese; this Nate Berkus for Target tray is large enough to use for multiple purposes. I also really love this tray and this tray

I have this affinity to pretty alarm clocks, yet it is something I would never spend the money on for myself. I still have the same one I used in middle school! For whatever reason I don't trust the task to my iPhone. It has to be a legit alarm clock. At any rate, a pretty alarm clock seems like a neat idea for your friend who is up and at 'em early every day.

There is something very nostalgic about writing recipes down on a card and storing them in a box, the way our mothers and grandmothers did. This adorable polka dot tin recipe box is a sweet gift for the sentimental chef in your life. Don't forget to add in pretty recipe cards to make the gift complete. Fill a few out with your favorite recipes to get her started!

These are great because not only are the terrariums themselves beautiful, but you can fill them with even more beautiful goodies for a truly personalized gift. Succulents are a great start, as they are easy to care for and come in lots of different shapes and sizes. Home Depot always has a nice supply. Then you can get creative with add-ons. Pretty stones and beach rocks add glimmer and texture. Think about their hobbies and add a little trinket that relates to it inside. Or add a little stone with their initial or relation inscribed on the top. Make one for a children's room and add little plastic animals, dinosaurs or fairies. The possibilities are endless!
