Is it safe to say our minds have officially turned to how we will be transitioning our wardrobes from summer to fall? I mean, the September fashion magazines have all dropped and I feel like fall mania is really revving up now! I know I'm getting super excited about it, so if you haven't started to yet, let me rub off a bit on ya!
I made the first of my fall prep purchases recently on my monthly trip to Old Navy. My plan of action was to scope out the denim scene, and pick out some pieces that would both work well currently, and have the versatility to still wear through fall and winter. Denim is great for transitional weather because of it's classic, wardrobe staple reputation. One of the favorite pieces I picked up that day is this chambray sleeveless shirt dress. I immediately thought of the different ways I could style it now, in the waning days of summer, as well as how I could style it during the cool months of fall. (You can see the other pieces I picked out in this instagram!)
Styled For Summer:
This chambray dress is so simple and sweet, that I knew it would go with any accessories I pleased. I decided to pair it with some fun bright colors, because that is what summer is all about! To add a little print to the mix, I wore a pair of leopard print sandals. A shirt dress is the ultimate throw on and go piece for effortless style. I love that this one is super comfy, and the relaxed fit helps you stay cool while out and about. Perfect for these last dog days of summer!
I would also style this for summer in a fun sporty way, by wearing a pair of white chucks, adding a cross-body bag and some simple gold hoop earrings!
Styled For Fall:
The simple cut of this dress makes it great for layering, which is exactly what we want in a piece that will transition to fall. I decided to go with an edgy vibe for this look, by adding a moto style jacket (big for fall!) and black booties. One of my absolute favorite looks is a simple dress with booties. It's easy, comfy, and looks equally at place running errands around town or heading out for dinner at night. A busy mom's favorite type of outfit!
For another fall look, I would pair this with a striped cardigan and a pair of pointed toe flats. To transition this look even further into the winter months, simply throw on a pair of leggings underneath and wear with knee high boots! Still so chic.
I think this dress wins the most versatile piece in the closet award! Denim just has that way about it, doesn't it? I'm so excited to style up my other new denim pieces from Old Navy, including a fun ombre chambray top (on clearance in store) and these tuxedo stripe denim pants!
