New Series: Style, Deconstructed!

I have a bit of an obsession with studying the looks of (what I deem to be) highly stylish women.  I mean, you've seen my "Inspired Fashion" board on Pinterest right?  It is the board with the most pins by far, 1,145 and counting.  This has inspired a new series here on the blog called "Style: Deconstructed".  I will feature a look that I love, then break down the components to see what makes it work.  Then I'll show you ways to get the look yourself!  What do you think? Okay, here we go....

This lovely lady has perfected fall/winter layering, while still remaining chic.  Mixing together shades of gray, navy, burgundy and taupe adds even more interest to her layers.  If you aren't the dress and tights type, swap them out for black skinny jeans and you will still get the same effect!  Let's see how to do it on our own...

Knit Hat- pick a chunky knit in maroon or red. It's like the cherry on top!
Layered Necklaces 1/2 - get more bang for your buck by layering multi-strand necklaces.  And go ahead and mix metals!
Navy Blazer-pick a boyfriend style blazer with a little wiggle room so you can layer it as a jacket. Other good options are this, this and this.
Leather Gloves- choose elbow length gloves and slouch them down like her!
Tights- hers are slightly sheer, but opaque would work just as well and provide a bit more warmth.  Or swap out the dress for a gray top and black skinny jeans!
Booties- I love the look of hers with the cuff at the top. This is a cute option as well.
Also, if you like big earrings, make sure to add hoops like hers!

  4. Love this idea for a series! Breaking down the elements makes it so much easier to turn all the Pinspirations into a real outfit from my closet. Love the suggestion to swap out the dress for jeans/tee too - I'd wear both versions!
