My 2011 Theme-Authenticity

Every year, instead of barraging myself with a mile long list of resolutions, I come up with one inspirational theme for the year.  This theme helps guide my focus and in turn the direction I want the year to take.  In 2009 my theme was Simplicity, and in 2010 my theme was Think Bright Thoughts.

This year, after much thought, my theme emerged: getting back to my authentic self.  I want to explore what makes me feel the most at home in my life, drop all facades, quit worrying about what I "should" be doing and enjoy what I want to be doing, re-focusing energy on what matters to me and my family.  It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day noise {bills to pay, mouths to feed, diapers to change} that you can very easily lose a bit of yourself with each passing day if you aren't careful.
I look forward to exploring this with you here on the blog every Friday.  This can be a very interactive topic, and I have lots of plans for making it so!

To kick things off, I found this wonderful quote that I printed and put on my inspiration board as my new mantra:

Wow! I don't know about you, but that speaks to me!  Do you feel a need to get back to your authentic self?

Check back this Friday when I reveal some of my action plan to living a more authentic life.

  1. I love your new theme Jackie... it goes along with mine a little for the year as well which is "do what you love and love what you do" - no more things that I kind of like or making do or taking things for granted.

Have you read Simple Abundance by San Ban Breathnach (sp?) it's an amazing day by day book (1 page or thought each day) about creating your authentic self and celebrating simple abundance in your life. I got it many years ago, but I am starting it again with the New Year! I highly recommend it and it would go with your theme very well!
