Loeffler Randall Summer Sale

Still out of my budget, but if I were able to splurge I totally would.  Plus, I love the graphic they came up with to promote the sale:

The shoes in the top left are from a past Currently Coveting post.  Also dying over the dress in the lower left corner.

Super Easy DIY: Thrifted Mirror Turned Chalkboard

I love a good DIY, but to be honest if it has too many steps my eyes glaze over and my brain shuts down.  So I usually cut all the corners I can.  Why not just make things simpler on yourself?  I know turning a mirror into a chalkboard is nothing new, but I wanted to share my little makeover anyway.

Here is my $9.99 oval cane patterned mirror as it came:

And here is it now, living a new life as a chalkboard:

{Yes, I have the handwriting of a 12 year old girl}

Literally all I did was spray paint primer right over the mirror, then sprayed on about 4 coats of chalkboard paint. Some people remove the mirror and get wood or mdf or whatever cut to size at Homie Depot, but that is one step too many for me.  Lazy much?  So far it is working just fine.  No problemos.  And of course I spray painted the frame white.  So there you have my super easy mirror to chalkboard DIY.  It's hanging up in my entry, and I like to write little welcome messages on it when we are having visitors.  They always get a kick out of it.

What is your DIY style?  Do you cut corners where you can like me, or follow the exact directions?

I've had a serious itch to do some backyard entertaining...

The top three books would no doubt hold tons of inspiration for a summer soiree

Add a cute outfit, some fun new seating options, cute lights for when the sun goes down, and the mack daddy of all frozen drink machines- the "Margaritaville Tahiti King of Frozen Concoctions".  With a name like that, how can you refuse?

SPPN Top 10: Nail Colors for Summer

Nothing is more rewarding than a fresh pedi in the summer.  Well, that and a delicious mint-filled Mojito.  I never care what my toesies look like in the winter because they are usually covered up, but come summer it's time to bust those guys out and give them a fresh coat of paint!  Below are my top ten favorite nail polish colors for this summer:

{click product for info}

I love a good nuetral, as shown in polishes #1-3.  The first two are a pale pink and the third is a bit more taupe.  Clean and simple, and of course looks great on tanned feet.  I also usually keep my nails this color, as they are a bit more forgiving once the chipping starts.

Polish #4 is a sweet lilac color, which I am carrying over from Spring because I liked it so much.

Polish #5, the gold NARS, is fun and perfect for when you are feeling a bit flashy.

Coral is another fave for summer, as seen in polishes #6 & 7.

You can never go wrong with #8-classic red!

The plum-y purple of #9 is another one of my very faves lately.

Lastly, the fun ocean blue of #10 will help cool you off by just looking at it!

Interior Infatuation: French Flair

Well good morning-er-afternoon sweeties. Late start blogging at SPPN, sorry bout that.  Recovering from the little four day getaway we took to my parents house.  We had a blast-the fair, the beach, shopping, and even a mommy-daddy-only night out on the town. Holla!  I'll be posting pics from the escapades soon.  As I stare at the piles of laundry I have been slowly chipping away at all day, I long for a simple, clean interior such as the one I am posting below.  Sometimes less really is more.

This is my favorite little scene from the whole house.  The settee is so perfect-I love how they matched the dark gray fabric to the paint color on the wood.  Had the choice been mine I would have no doubt covered it in a funky printed fabric, as I always tend towards prints, but I really love the simplicity of this.

Love, love, love when people use vintage trunks as coffee tables.  Such a unique look and works double-duty because you can use the inside to hide away blankies, magazines, toy, etc.

Clean, simple and bright.  Love the sconces.

Gorg kitchen with white cabinets, butcher block counters and subway tile.  I'm so predictable.

I mean, come on.  A clawfoot tub with a chandy overhead?  Yup.  Not to mention the wood floors, wainscoting, a great shade of blue on the walls and a fun bold art piece.

Another little decor trick I love-using a ladder to hold towels.  So cute.  I now also want a round window in my house.  K thanks.

A sweet, serene escape at the end of the day.  ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Adventures at the Lavender Farm

I've been exploring all sorts of local haunts with the girlies lately in an effort to make this a summer to remember.  I can't believe this Lavender Farm is only 10 minutes away from my house and we had never been there before.

I went with my friend and her two kids.  The little girl in the middle is hers and it always trips me out how much her and Kara look like they are the ones that are sisters rather than Kara & Natalie.

Or where the lavender grows for that matter.  This is the home on the farm. Could it be any more idyllic?  Feeds into my ultimate "simple life" dream.  Although I am sure running a profitable lavender farm is in no way shape or form simple...

What kind of blogger would I be if I didn't take a picture of a cute bike?

The kids got a serious kick out of the parrot that was hanging out in a tree.  They would start giggling, and he laughed back at them, which made them giggle even more.

How adorable is their packaging for their boxed lunch special?

What was inside:
Lavender chicken salad on a croissant-delish!
Strawberries with a lavender tropical fruit dip-super delish!
Lavender marinated mozzarella cheese-muy delicioso!
Lavender roasted almonds-meh
Lavender pomegranate frozen yogurt-died and went to Heaven delicious

A few more scenes:

Note to self: get the family pic at the beginning of your trip-not the end when everyone is hot, cranky and tired.
