Interior Infatuation: Laura Day Living Volume 3

If you aren't already reading the online mag Laura Day Living, here's another reminder of why you should be.  Her third issue is all about Summer living with a focus on designing for and living with kids.  Right up my alley, as you all know how much I love seeing how others with children organize and decorate their spaces.  Laura has the best outlook and thoughts on designing a life than anyone I have run across.  I definitely have a girl crush, as us bloggers like to say!  If anything, you MUST read her intro thoughts titled "Life Adds Color!".  It has me so stoked to paint in the "blank coloring book" that is summer!

Luara, who has an adorable little toddler herself, shares photos of her Bridgehampton farmhouse and it is to die!  Check it:

Isn't the home gorgeous? I love her bold use of color and all the fun kid friendly touches, like the child size chairs above.
She also has a great interview with Jennifer Delonge, a designer of children's furniture, in which she shares her thouhgts on design, inspiration and children.  I love this shot of the nursery in her home:

And if the issue wasn't good enough with just photos and great articles, she included the most adorable video too.  If only all parenting days were like a spin art party in Central Park to the song "Ladybug picnick"!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Memorial Day and are doing some fun things to help kick off summer!

Looks To Love: Billabong for Summer Fun

Since graduating high school 11 years ago (eek!) I've been wary to saunter in to any "teenager-y" store like Abercrombie, Hollister, Pac Sun and the like.  Something about the blaring music, heavy cheap cologne smell and bevies of giggling sixteen year olds makes me want to run the other way into the comforting arms of upstairs Macy's.  Luckily for me there is online shopping, because after seeing the recent summer additions to the Billabong line, I'm mighty tempted to embrace my inner Justin Bieber lover.  Case in point:

I would have never guessed that the above top, sweater and shorts were fom Billabong. They're so chic and, well, grown up!  I'm very tempted to buy this whole outfit, as it would be equally appropriate taking the girls to the park, going to a matinĂ©e with my hubby, or strolling the boutiques of my favorite beach town with friends.

This dress? I die. And it's only $38.99. Leaves plenty of moolah to splurge on some gorg Kendra Scott studs or ring!

I think any of these adorbs tops would look great with a pair of cropped skinnies.

Last but not least I love this comfy hoodie and can imagine throwing it on over a tank when your outdoor bbq lasts past sundown and turns into smores by the fire.

So what do you think?  Embrace the brand, or leave it for the teeny boppers?

Currently Coveting

I've been stuck on a sea foam green, blue and coral/peach kick lately.  Which sounds so horribly early 90's, but for some reason is working for me.

(unrelated to the color story-but I've been obsessed with the style of these for some time)

What color combo are you feeling as of late?

I can picture wearing one of these with a long, flowy white maxi dress, gold flat glads, and coral painted nails while enjoying an early evening dinner on the patio of a cafe overlooking the ocean.   Ahhhhh, bliss!

Interior Infatuation: Tumblin On Through

Wowie wee wow. That's all I can say about my crazy emotional weekend.  You ever have those super weird moods where you feel like you want to just crawl out of your own skin?  Jeez, I hope I'm not the only one.  This weekend was a mix of many emotions, and let's just say I am so thankful my mom was here to help me through.  Don't worry though, Kara did end up having a wonderful birthday that was filled with Hello Kitty, pink cake and peonies that I will post photos of later in the week.

For today's Interior Infatuation, I thought I would post a random selection of some of my recent editions to my tumblr blog.  A random selection of rooms to match my random emotions.

Here's to an emotionally stable week!

Looks To Love: 4 New{ish} Ways to Wear A Scarf

I am obsessed with scarves.  I mean big time obsessed-my collection grows weekly.  They are such a fun, simple way to add punch and pattern to your wardrobe and that is why I love them.  I recently ran across an  article from Refinery 29 on 4 new ways to wear scarves and plan on trying some of them out.

Here are their tips, paraphrased:
1.  Wrap a long scarf around your waist, obi style.  Secure with a belt for polish.

2. For an interesting way to add a casual layer, loop a scarf around your neck and hold in place with a belt.  I like this tip the best because it almost gives your scarf the look of a sleeveless cardigan.

3. To add a new twist to the whole head scarf look, try wearing it turban style.  Or take two skinny scarves, braid them together and wear like a headband.
I have never sported a head scarf and not sure I would, but these are fun ideas nonetheless.

4.  For smaller scarves, tie them around your neck like a bandanna with the two ends in front.

I think these are great ideas for extending the life of your scarf into the spring and even summer season-that's if you are lucky enough to live where it doesn't get to be 100+ degrees.  Here are a few gauzy and silky scarves that would be great for trying out these ideas:

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  My little Kara is turning two on Saturday, which depresses me more than it probably should.  Once kids turn two you can pretty much kiss babyhood goodbye.  In the blink of an eye they are potty trained, talking in full sentences and heading to preschool.  I'm tearing up right now just thinking about it.  Wish me luck getting through this weekend, I think I'm going to need it!
