SPPN Top 10: Satchels

"It's where I keep all my things. Get a lot of compliments on this. Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one."
{Name that movie}

I love me some purses and the style I tend to gravitate toward the most is the satchel.  I don't know what it is about having two handle options, but it gets me every time.

Have a great weekend my peeps.

Get The Look: Kitchen Barstools

Remember this pic in which I loved the barstools:

Want a similar look in your kitchen?

How about:

And sew yourself up some slipcovers!

Or, if you aren't the sewing type, check out these pre-made slipcovers available from bemz:

There are literally dozens of fabric options with prices ranging from around $40-$60 each.  Not bad for a custom look.

I heart Bemz.  It has a slipcover for pretty much every upholstered ikea product.  Sofas, armchairs, barstools, daybeds- you name it, they got it covered-literally! Ha! Oh, I crack myself up.

Blogger Book Fair : Ashlina of The Decorista

Today we have the lovely Ashlina over to visit and share her fave books.  I just recently discovered Ashlina's great blog "The Decorista: Secrets of Domestic Bliss" and it has quickly become a favorite daily read.  Ashlina is the kind of gal you wish you could hang out with; she's super sweet, has amazing style and you just know there would never be a dull moment with her around!  Take it away girl...

Hi all you fabulous readers of Sweetie Pie Pumpkin Noodle! So excited to be here today and share with you my favorite all time books. Reading is one of the biggest joys of my life...I just love the smell of a brand new book, there is nothing like it. Hope you guys enjoy! xoxo

Three Black Skirts by Anna Johnson

One of my very first favorite books. It's jam packed with tips on how to live a fabulous life as a young woman in the city. From fashion to decor to grace, she covers it all. This is defnitely a bright and fun read and the graphics are adorable to boot.

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

Such a great and positive read! I am all about positivity and enthusiasm, living life to the fullest. This book is a great example of how to live a vibrant life (aside from the Bible, my first love). I always try to give it as a gift to people who are in need of a little pick me up. Uber inspirational!

Shabby Chic by Rachel Ashwell

This woman is a huge inspiration to me. She writes so beautifully about making everyday life more feminine and joyful. I love her english/californian vibe and the way she mixes and matches rose dishes amongst all white backgrounds. An empowering story behind her success, this has been a staple in my bookshelf for years and since, I have read every single one of her books. I love them all.

I will never forget the day I bought my first Domino magazine. I sat and read it cover to cover about 10 times. After that I bought every single issue that came out and the day it went out of publication I cried. I have each one in my room to this day and this book was a must get. It basically summed up the history of the mag and forever will be my other Bible. (my bible of decorating)

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

This was the very first book that I read in 2 days. I will never forget the emotional rollercoaster I went on while reading this book, it was fabulous. I urge every girl to read this book, It will probably send you on some day dreaming.

In the Pink: Dorothy Draper by Carlton Varney

I actually don't own this book, for some reason but I have sat at peoples homes, book stores, boutiques, where ever I see this book I pick it up and indulge myself over and over again. Dorothy is my idol, no other will match her amazing sense of style and dedication. I love the photos and her decorating tips, they will never go out of style.

Currently Coveting by Sweetie Pie Pumpkin Noodle featuring Nollie tops

I have a black, white and (surprise) hot pink theme going on today...

Love this fabric found on bemz , while researching for another post I've been meaning to put together for a week. More of that to come soon.

I love elephants and am digging this guys modern form.

I've been searching high and low for a stylish floor lamp and this one may be a winner.

Another trend emerging in my coveting posts are striped flats.  Send these my way please.

A fun pink pillow to jazz up a corner of your home.

I pretty much live in comfy tshirts and tanks during the summer. This Nollie Shirt  has an interesting print without being too "teenage-y", if you know what I mean.

BTW, do you "like" me on facebook? (They changed it from "Become a fan" to "like". Totally random).  I post additional little nuggets of info like my favorite pandora station of the moment, what I'm doing over the weekend and new purchases I've made.  Check it.

Personal Style, Defined: Special Maternity Issue

One of my dear sweet readers sent in a request to have Jill and me do a maternity version of our Personal Style, Defined series.  Of course we happily obliged, so today I will be featuring nurseries and Jill will be featuring maternity outfits in these styles: romantic, preppy, boho and modern.

Romantic:

This nursery evokes a romantic vibe with it's neutral color palette, chandelier, fluffy white crib bedding and floral wall decals. (I know I have posted this nursery once before-I really like it!)

Preppy:

Create a preppy space for your babe like this homeowner did by pairing stripes with polka dots in an all-american color scheme of red white and blue.  The mobile is made out of pinwheels-too cute! You can find similar mobiles here.

Boho:

No one does boho for baby better than Rikshaw design. This is a photo from their website featuring a wonderful hand blocked paisley print crib bumper and blanket.  Make sure you mix in some antiques and personal artwork to complete the boho look.
Modern:

This Walmart crib seems to be the hallmark in many a modern nursery.  The color palette of lime green, pink and brown ups the mod factor, along with the graphic print above the crib, simple shelving and fun floor lamp.  Throw in an Eames-style rocker and a modern mobile for even more oomph.

I hope you liked this look into different nursery styles!  Jill has put together some great maternity outfits, so make sure to go check them out.

Interior Infatuation: Natural Treasures

When I've mentioned that my favorite interior design style is modern/bungalow/coastal/cottage this house pretty much sums that all up in one nice little package.  It's the home of Jayme Armour Leffler, owner of Armour & Co, another amazing home store in Atlanta. I love how she mixes antique dressers with acrylic side tables; small doses of bold, modern patterns next to a muted overall color palette of grays, creams and pale blues and uses lots of natural elements to accessorize.

Her home was recently featured in Better Homes & Gardens as well.  Here are a few additional pictures scanned from the article:

I'm officially bit obsessed with this home.  Are you?

SPPN Top 10: Perfume

I had a reader request to do an SPPN Top 10 on perfume, but to be quite honest I don't wear much. I'm allergic, so all the sneezing and itchy eyes kind of take the fun out of it.  Many of these I chose for the mere aesthetic of the bottle and how pretty it would look on your vanity or dresser!  But I will let you in on my signature scent: Lollia Wish  (It's the one in the middle on the left hand side).  It's my all time favorite and I always have a bottle on hand for special occasions.  I just make sure not to spray it too close to my face!  I also love the scent of Dkny Be Delicious.

Blogger Book Fair: Amy of Fashion and Other Stuff

I love this week's recommendations brought to you by the oh-so stylish Amy of the blog Fashion and Other Stuff. Make sure to check it out, I know you'll love it.

I first discovered Alexandra Penney by reading her blog on The Daily Beast. Penney (former Self Editor, bestselling author and artist), started to blog after literally losing it all (all of her life savings) with Bernie Madoff. It was fascinating to me to hear her story. She was extremely candid, which I loved. She realizes she has lost it all, while she is preparing a decadent meal for friends, and tries to come to terms with the fact that she is now a PORC (as she desribes Person of Reduced Circumstances). Penney must decide what immediate life changes she is going to have to make to survive this situation without ending up on the streets. I think this a great read especially in this economy. It goes to show that no matter what lemons life throws at you, you can NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up.

I loved watching Kelly on The Hills and now on her own show Kell on Earth. I like how she cuts through the BS. I wanted to learn more about Kelly and how she got started in the biz. She has led an interesting life and I enjoyed all her stories and words of wisdom.

Gypset Style by Julia Chaplin

I added this coffee table book to my collection of Assouline books and I have to say it is my favorite. If I had to do it over, I’d say the Gypsetters life is for me. The book tells multiple stories, and includes beautiful images, of some of the worlds most famous and chic Gypsetters. It had me dreaming of far off places to jet off to for extended periods of time (like the Greek Islands). If only I had the time!!! A girl can dream…

The Color of Water by James McBride

This book was recomended by a friend. It was great and again made me feel grateful for my problems. It was very intense; I almost read the entire book on a flight. The book includes stories of James’ life, as well as a tribute to his mother, Ruth McBride. He discuss his chaotic childhood and that of his twelve siblings, as they dealt with issues of racism, religion and identity. A classic.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I saw a picture in a tabloid of Sarah Jessica Parker reading this book, so I immediately ran out and got it. The writing style is exceptional and reminds me of To Kill a Mockingbird. The book evokes emotion. I found myself angry, saddened, and inspired by the characters and their stories. These women knew the true meaning of exceptionally hard work and they inspired me beyond words with their resilience. This was a book that kept me up late into the night reading.

Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert

I bought this book because I couldn’t wait to hear more from Elizabeth Gilbert. I loved her humor in Eat Pray Love. In this book her voice is still there, but it’s just a little more serious. I think this is a great book for committment phobic types.

Windsor Smith Tastemaker Tag Sale on OKL

I've mentioned in the past that Windsor Smith is one of my favorite interior designers, and I am pretty stoked that she has been chosen for this weekend's curated collection of home goods on One Kings Lane.

Today I am having trouble resisting these gorgeous scented sachets by Gold N' Dulcinea.  How cute are they in their little silk lined keepsake boxes?

If you want in on the action and need an invite to One Kings Lane, here ya go.

Currently Coveting

I would gladly accept any of these gorgeous jewels by Kendra Scott for Mother's Day. {wink, wink. nudge, nudge}

I ran across Kendra Scott jewelry after falling in love with the the top right earrings as seen on Michelle Trachtenberg:

Remember her in Harriet the Spy? I went to see it at the theater with my mom and little brother (don't judge). My mom thought we looked a lot alike. Good times.

Anyway babe, those earrings would be a good place to start. K thanks.

Personal Style, Defined: Casual

That's right, Jill and I just keep cranking out these Personal Style, Defined posts! If you are just tuning in, check out the introductory post here.  This week we are showcasing casual style, which I think is the style many of us can relate to the most.  Casual elements are truly what make a house feel like a home.

Big comfy sofas and chairs nestled near a fireplace just beg for you to come in and relax.

Another inviting sofa full of plump pillows paired with soothing neutral colors and lots of woodwork make for a comfy living space.

Here we have simple and serene comfort-no fusiness allowed!

I love the casual look of mismatched chairs around a dining table or like here at the bar.  Each has it's own quirky personality, much like the friends and family who are constantly gathered here.  Because no one makes you feel more at home like that of a casual gal.  Come on in, kick off your shoes, mi casa es su casa!

Get the look:

Classic neutrals
Comfy Sofas
Fluffy blankets and pillows
Pretty much anything from Pottery Barn will work!
Add some quirk through mismatched dining chairs.  Add some personality with a gallery wall full of family photos and artwork.  Invite some friends over for lemonade and you're good to go!

I can't wait to check out Jill's casual outfits!  Go drop by and pay her a visit.
