Interior Infatuation: Joel McHale's Hollywood Home

As If I weren't obsessed with Joel McHale enough already, I ran across his home in December's issue of InStyle and about died at how much I loved it. His wife designed the home with the help of her friend Elizabeth Gordon, who both used to be design assistants to Kelly Wearstler.  Some girls have all the luck.

Look at that adorable family.  The article revealed that they met in college at the University of Washington.  It's so great when relationships can withstand the test of time-in Hollywood or not!

I love the color palette of the whole house.  It is understated, yet still colorful.  That is thanks to the muted tones of each shade they use: a dusty blue, sage green, auburn, and tan, to name a few.  Isn't the ceiling above beyond? The artwork above the fireplace reminds me of this piece from the sketch 42 etsy shop.  Love her work.

The lighting throughout the entire home is spot on. This one is a metal chandelier with a faux-wood finish.  The artwork above the side table is by Kristen Neveu.

Great detailing on the built-ins.

I always love a small powder room wallpapered in a fun pattern. This one is called Grove Garden by Osborne & Little.

Joel's office. Droooooooooooooooooooooooooooool.

Above the sofa are vintage Russian posters from Joel's father's travels.

The master bedroom.  Love the capiz shell globe lights.

And here are the rooms for the little ones:

So what do you think? Are you as smitten with Joel and his home as I am?

  1. Super cute, although it feels kinda like it's all his wife's taste--I'd say he's lucky too!

  2. very cool! It's very toned-down Kelly Wearstler, in a good way. You can see some of her influences, just not as over the top like she can tend to be. I love the color palette - very calming and cohesive. Great find!

  3. Oh my gosh, I totally LOVE Joel McHale. Especially since he's from the Seattle area, and when he was in town two years ago, his standup show was AWESOME and hilarious (and totally PG because his family was in attendance that day, lol)

I never would have expected his home to look like this, but it's AMAZING. I absolutely love it! And I totally agree with Mary Jo, it feels really feminine and totally catered to his wife's taste. She's such a lucky lady!
