Personal Style, Defined: Bohemian

Moving right along in our Personal Style, Defined series, this week Jill and I have decided to study the bohemian look.  Boho is everywhere these days in the fashion and interiors world.  Blending equal parts vintage and ethnic, earthy and comfortable, it's no wonder boho is so appealing.

As far as interiors go, one can't help but think of Amanda Peet's home featured in Domino magazine:

And this bookshelf you have no doubt seen countless times before, also from Domino:

Perhaps you have heard of the ultimate bohemian styled getaway, Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs:

Ace Hotel was designed by the firm Commune, which also has  a residential portfolio filled with bohemian interiors:

Another great resource if you are looking to study more bohemian interiors is The Selby. They've got all kinds of eclectic and bohemian looks going on over there.  Check out this home if you get a chance.

Get The Look:

Items in this set:
Basket., Crate & Barrel, $60
Bohemian Bouquet Curtain, UO, $34
Edie Chaise - Moss, UO, $550
Six Light Iron Lantern, tvstands.com, $119.99
Macaw Rug - Anthropologie.com, $120
John Robshaw Pillow, HSN, $100
Agate Bookends, Rain Collection, $65.00

Album Frames, UO, $15

What is so great about this style is that it is very attainable.  Find vintage accessories that appeal to you on the cheap at thrift stores.  Use your stacks and stacks of books as decor.  Fold up your yummy textiles and put them on the bottom of a bookshelf instead of hiding them away in the linen closet.  Frame your favorite album covers for personal and cheap artwork.  Pick up mementos from your travels to place on a side table.  Shop etsy for unique art that speaks to you. And don't forget to layer, layer, layer!

So do I have any bohemian beauties out there? Don't forget to check Jill's post over at The Good Life For Less to see how the fashion side appeals to you.

  1. I love all these looks... same as the fashion side, I just LOVE the look of this style, even though it's really not "me" - but I would love to hang out in more than a few of those rooms!

  4. I love this style! I think I have a bit of it in my home because I scour thrift stores for florals and wicker that fit in with it so well. Gorgeous links.
