Since U Been Gone

Well, since I been gone anyway. Here's what I've been up to...

Had a blast at The Renegade Craft Faire in SF. I've never seen so many cool crafty people in one spot! Inspiring! And the pic in the bottom left hand side above was the highlight of the day: this guy rolled up on his bicycle/piano combo and started playing out front. Awesome.

Hit up the Alameda County Fair, which is the nicest, cleanest fair I have ever been to. Can you believe they had a graceful, majestic deer in their petting zoo? Never in all my life!

Met Miss Aimee! She is SO cool, artsy, funny, interesting...the list goes on and on. And full of great advice too. So happy to have been able to meet her!

Lastly, Kara has found a new favorite "toy" to play with. Good times.

(And yes, I know I do the whole hand on the hip pose too much. Give me a break, I'm practicing for all those red carpet moments that I know are in my future.)

Peace Out

You guys, I need a blog break. Summer has been calling my name and my head hasn't been in the blogging game lately-which you may have noticed. Plus, Kara is now walking and making my life 1102838548264561541 times more complicated and I'm going to be out of town visiting the rents next week, so I'm gonna keep a low profile around here for a bit.

Catch you on the flip side,

Jackie

Why Didn't I Think Of This??

Two words: Colored. Bubbles.

I have never looked at a bubble and thought "You know what would be even cooler? If they were colored!" Luckily, someone smarter did, and you can buy them for a whopping $14.95 for two 4 oz. bottles, one in blue one in pink. Would you splurge for these? My kids (well, mainly Natalie at this point) would go gaga over them for sure. And supposedly they don't stain when they pop. Fun, no?

Interior Infatuation: Uptown Girl

I know you may have already seen this one making the rounds lately, as I'm pretty sure a bunch of design-ish bloggers get the same emails from my home ideas, but I had to post these for prosperity. The gal who lives in this Upper East Side apartment is a cute interior designer named Lindsey Coral Harper. (Love the name Coral, btw). Check it out. I die.

The Alan Campbell Petite Zig Zag wallpaper makes me droooool! You can also see it in green in Aerin Lauders' son's room from Elle Decor. And that sign-I love a good cheeky element in decor.

I don't even know where to start with this one. Perfection.

Oh snap, a gray python table. Would you believe they had a very similar piece recently on One Kings Lane that sold out in about a nanosecond. I was beyond bummed. On the bottom you may notice the Cloisonne pot from Jayson Home and Garden. Been coveting one of those beauties for some time. Why do they have to be so darn expensive?

Anyone sick of Suzanis yet? I still like them, and think this one looks great here on the bed.

Blue Chippendale chairs + a fun bar cart + more gray python + inspiration board= me getting all hot and bothered.

One of many zebras displayed throughout the apartment. Do you have any collections in your home? Right now I have a wine cork one going, a bunch of white pottery and an Eiffel Tower collection that I stopped adding to several years ago, but still have displayed. I think it's time for me to switch it up a bit.

A Cool Summer Treat

I just made some of this today, and wanted to share the recipe in case some of you haven't tried it-because it is delish. I'm always asked to bring this to the in-laws BBQ's and they jokingly refer to it as "my old lady dessert".

It kinda looks like this, only it's light green and not so chunky. Pic via.

Pistachio Ambrosia

1 pkg pistachio flavored jello pudding mix
1 large can of crushed pineapple in juice
1 large can of mandarin oranges, drained
1 regular size cool whip, thawed

In a large serving bowl, pour in crushed pineapple with juice, then mix in the powdered jello mix. Let sit for five minutes to thicken. Next add in thawed cool whip and stir. Finally throw in your can of drained mandarin oranges. Pop in the fridge for as long as you like, the colder it gets, the better. Enjoy!

Now some people throw in all kinds of stuff like marshmallows, walnuts, cans of fruit salad, shredded coconut, etc. I like to keep it simple and just stick with the recipe above. Today I made it with cheesecake flavored jello mix, and it was quite tasty. And fair warning, it can be VERY addicting. Let me know if you try it!

Obsessing Over: Hermes Box Orange

In further researching which shade of orange to paint my cedar chest by looking over my Interior Infatuations, I realized I have a definite favorite shade. I wasn't quite sure how to describe it: pumpkin? parika? spicy? burnt orange? Then I realized in several photos were those iconic Hermes boxes that are the exact color I'm talking about. For me it really is the perfect shade of orange. Unfortunately, I don't have a box to color match at Home Depot (any rich peeps out there have one to spare?) so I will have to try and find a similar option. Hold onto your hats folks, I'm about to take you on a wild orange ride:
