Interior Infatuation: Mix & Match

This home's mix of modern and traditional pieces is really inspiring me today. It's exactly what I picture for my future dream home in the Sonoma wine country, when my husband is retired and the girls are off in college!

I've always been a fan of placing two Ikea LACK side tables together to form a coffee table.

Love the Lucite table between the two oversize arm chairs. The fireplace wall in this home is exactly how mine is (protruding forward) and I like how the owner painted a square in a lighter shade to add a bit more interest to above the mantle.

*Drooling*

Open kitchen shelving: yay or nay? I like the look in photos, but in my own home I feel like it would look messy.

Check out that yummy armoire. And my favorite dining set-up: farmhouse table with mismatched chairs.

Little yellow bathrooms make me smile.

This has to be the perfect shade of gray on the walls.

If you are interested in a little Christmas in June, you can see this home decorated for the holidays here.

I love those chairs in the living area. I really love the open shelves, but you'd have to keep some symmetry to it all. And, that is the best shade of gray I've seen in a while!

I too adore the lack tables together... I have two in my basement unused... such a waste. They need fresh paint and to be brought out, don't you think!?!?

I was going to say the same thing about the Lack tables. So inexpensive, so good looking.

Thank you Jackie - I did see the UO curtains but to me they are a little too sheer and the print's not quite right. I'd love it if you would dig a little deeper - I've had these on my mind for a long time - the images are in a number of decor books (most recent BHG New Book of Decorating). Thanks again.

1. I feel like open kitchen shelving would be too messy for me too. I need to organize my life first. But I love the idea of a mirror in the kitchen!
2. That IS the perfect shade of gray!
3. And yes, I'm pretty much obsessed with yellow bathrooms too.

The other thing about open shelving is all of your plates and bowls get dusty and linty. When you take them out of a cabinet you don't have to re-wash them.
