Interior Infatuation: Bold on A Budget

I know you all love homes done on a budget as much as I do, so I am excited to share with you this fun home I ran across awhile ago on myhomeideas.com:

The homeowner uses all the tips and tricks we do, like hitting up yard sales, thrift stores and of course is all about the DIY action. Can you believe she picked up both of these green velvet loveseats for only $75 at a yard sale?! A-mazing deal. The zebra pillows are from TJ Maxx and the artwork above the sofa are by her friend Cathy Lancaster, so I am sure she got a great deal on them as well!

Here is where she earns the super-DIYer star: she made this coffee table!! Apparantly she found a crepe myrtle in someone's gutter, hauled it home, cut some branches off, balanced a glass top on them, and used screws to attach them to a 20x20 inch steel plate for stability. Wha?! For reals? And it only cost her $35.

Another great idea: spray paint a small children's bike and use as an unique art piece. Brilliant.

Striped walls get me every time. I think I need to do this in my bathroom. The sink set-up is an antique bureau with a vessel sink from Lowe's on top.

Here we have a pretty little vignette using items mostly from discount stores.

I like this little no-sew bolster pillow. She simply found some fun fabric and wrapped it around the pillow, and tied both ends with string. Viola-instant pillow cover. She added a sparkly dragonfly pin for some bling.

Love this bright bed set-up. Mounds of mix-matched pillows unified through a similar color palette. Yummy.

Here's one more "Holy cow, this lady is crazy creative" moment for you: she picked up these signs at a junk store, set them against a rubber shower rack (not sure what that is?) and used aquarium glue to seal the edges.

  3. Wow, what a find, Jackie! I like that this home is original and budget-minded. And that she didn't recover every.single.thifted.thing in Orla K like some "original" homeowners in the blogosphere do. Those couches probably looked hideous when she found them but she totally worked them. Love the coffee table too!

  7. That coffee table is fantastic! Now I'm going to start paying attention to people's garbage on the curb. :)

This is seriously the most creative, fun space I've seen in a long time. I may actually use that spray painted bike in my kids' room!

  9. Glad this has everyone inspired!

Maggie-I was thinking the same thing about the sofas. I wonder if I would have passed them right up had I seen them at a yard sale. But she definitely makes them look great in the space!

Christina-I think that would be sooo cool! Post pics if you end up doing it!
